Cadillac’s history

Cadillac took its name from Cadillac, Michigan, the starting point for many of the early French-speaking settlers who began arriving around 1910. They came to the southwest part of the province, and within a few years the community had grown enough to organize. Cadillac was incorporated as a village on July 2, 1914.

Today the village sits in the Rural Municipality of Wise Creek No. 77, where Highway 13, the Red Coat Trail, meets Highway 4, about 62 kilometres south of Swift Current. The biggest buildings still standing are the former Cadillac School, the Cadillac Skating and Curling Rink, and the former Saskatchewan Wheat Pool grain elevator. Former NHL player Mark Lamb is among the people associated with the community.
